Description

The Allocation Analyst is responsible for inventory levels in each store across assigned product classes. The Allocation Analyst must work in close partnership with the merchant, planning, and store operations teams to ensure that each store has the correct inventory level to support its product display and sales needs; at the same time, overall inventory for a given product class needs to actualize according to its turn plan, requiring the Allocation Analyst to at times balance conflicting priorities.

The Allocation Analyst must develop strategies to manage assigned products throughout their life-cycle, from initial introduction to core assortment to clearance. This role requires the ability to consistently deliver business results by meeting deadlines and achieving goals.

Our corporate goal is to build a world-class merchandise planning and store allocation team.

Essential Functions

• Develop forward-looking allocation strategies and appropriately adjust inventory levels in stores to maximize sell-through.
• Provide extra support to bestselling products, fast-turning stores, and proprietary/signature products bought in large quantities to make a merchandising statement.
• Effectively utilize inventory management systems to execute allocation strategies to support ongoing replenishment and seasonal assortment needs. Convey any systems shortcomings to the business analysis team for correction.
• Coordinate all shipping and delivery activities with the merchandise planning team, the supply chain planning team, and store operations.
• Create and distribute weekly reporting to measure the health of the store and DC inventory. Provide action steps to report recipients to move the business forward.

• Analyze climate/weather impact, store type, and midweek sales trends; use the findings to take appropriate actions to ensure the optimal inventory level in each store, particularly for promoted products. Identify bottom performers and work with the merchants on exit strategies.
• Collaborate with merchants, the promotional team, and store operations to determine appropriate product mix and display quantities. Surface any concerns before the initial allocation is complete. Be an active participant in cross-functional meetings. Communicate with store and district managers, as appropriate, to address individual store needs.
