Description

The Associate Product Manager will support the planning and development of new mobile products and features across Barnes & Nobles family of apps and mobile web. He/she will partner with the Senior Product Manager, top-notch technology and design teams, as well as 3rd party vendors to create breakthrough new products that reinvent the digital bookstore and enhance the Barnes & Noble customer experience.

Essential Functions

• Support new product development and feature roadmap, from strategic planning to implementation.
• Ensure products are delivered on schedule and with high-quality results by working with cross-functional teams that include Merchandising, Marketing, Technology, Customer Service, Creative, and PMO.
• Conduct external research and usability studies to understand how customers are interacting with the product and develop enhancements based on the results.
• Partner with the Analytics team to always have a pulse on what users are doing and be able to back up product decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, Computer Science, Business, or Marketing preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in mobile-related Product Management, preferably with consumer-facing apps, name brand content portals or social media sites.
• Passion and understanding of exemplary user experience in e-commerce/ m-commerce.
• Technical understanding of native apps. Keeping up-to-date with the latest mobile technologies and changes is a must.
• Experience interpreting usage metrics and deducing key takeaways and action items.
• Experience supporting successful app development projects: writing requirements and communicating specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing on-time implementation.
• Self-starting personality with the ability to think strategically, problem solve and develop creative solutions; Works well and stays focused under little supervision.
• Excellent communication, presentation, coordination and project management skills.
• Avid reader who’s passionate about changing the way people discover and enjoy books.
