Description

The Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for providing customer service support to the organization by acting as a liaison between Booksellers and Home Office teams. You will provide timely and accurate information to and from our stores. This position will be responsible for maintaining a central repository of store communications to allow for cataloging and tracking of systematic issues. The goal is to reduce the volume of communication to home office executives while facilitating the identification of systematic issues so they can be responded to promptly.

Essential Functions

• Actively manage the Store Operations email box and phone number and be the single source for feedback as it pertains to the stores.
• Vet the validity of issues raised by booksellers and funnel the questions or issues to the appropriate function/department or respond to it directly.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Follow up within an established time frame to ensure the solution was received and is working.
• Gather and analyze information skillfully and summarize the information in a concise way.
• Organize, log and report issues weekly to the Director, Store Operations so that it can be shared with RVPs and DMs as needed.
• Help to create and use the appropriate communication templates and protocols to streamline communications and issues.
• Provide detailed succinct professional communication to stores and senior management.
• Assist merchants in creating appropriate responses to store-based inquiries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related major or comparable experience
• 2 or more years of experience working for Barnes & Noble or a comparable retailer
• Excellent communication skills, with proven/demonstrated written and verbal skills
• Comfortable in communicating with all levels within the organization
• Ability to compose, edit and proofread text
• Detail-oriented, organized and can quickly set and shift priorities as needed
• Technical savvy with the ability to be fearless when learning technology tools
• Strive to continually build knowledge and skills
• Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel - PowerPoint is a plus
• Self-directed and able to collaborate as part of a team
