Description

The Customs Compliance Coordinator is responsible to ensure Barnes & Noble Purchasing Inc is following Customs Laws and Regulations of imported merchandise. The Customs Compliance Coordinator will liaise with logistics and other internal functional groups, external service providers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and customs brokers to ensure that product flow meets the demands of the regulatory law ordinances. Primary responsibilities will include U.S. Customs Classification and Compliance support, such as document management, recordkeeping, pre-classification of products, management of other government agency requirements, and daily customs brokerage activities.

Essential Functions

•Develop internal import Self- Auditing procedures that meet US Customs standards.
•Facilitate recordkeeping program with 3PL, Customs Broker and Free Trade Zone.
•Establish framework to drive on-going vendor document compliance.
•Assist with maintaining other regulatory government agency requirements; follow up with vendors to collect and retain those documents for recordkeeping. Liaison with vendors, origin 3PL, Customs Broker, and Free Trade Zone to ensure those documents are made available at time of entry into US. (FDA, Fish & Wildlife, Anti-Dumping….)

Qualifications

•BS degree preferred in international business and /or equivalent work experience
•At least 5+ years of related work experience with direct importer or international broker / shipping provider.
