Description

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the month-end gross margin and inventory close functions relating to NOOK. You will prepare monthly reports to support close, as well as assist in the quarterly and annual Audit reviews. You must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Functions

• Prepare all monthly entries relating to month-end close.
• Analyze result variances to plan and prior year and provide explanations for Management.
• Partner with the Distribution Center (DC) and Accounts Payable on intercompany items.
• Reconcile and analyze inventory, inventory clearing and inventory reserve accounts.
• Prepare and analyze select reserve and obsolesce accounts.
• Perform periodic inventory adjustments in line with accounting principles and explain drivers.
• Support other functions within the Finance department, including Store physical inventories, Vendor Shared Markdown tracking, Café and e-Commerce.
• Provide all reports and document requests for Internal, External and Bank auditors.
• Provide backup on various accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Proven ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Works well under deadlines.
• Knowledge and understanding of Accounting principles.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office
• Financial Reporting Systems (Hyperion, Oracle, BPC) beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or comparable field.
• At least three years of Accounting and/or related experience in a specialty retail environment.
