The Barnes & Noble Summer Internship program is designed to provide students with the exciting opportunity to apply their education in a real-life professional setting, while gaining valuable industry experience and transferable skills. This will be a paid 10 week program, in which Interns will partner with Mentors on accomplishing impactful company projects. The program will begin on June 4th and end on August 10th.

Department/Position Overview:

Our Learning & Development department creates learning materials for our field organization to develop the skills of our booksellers and managers, to better serve our customers and drive sales. The L&D intern will assist with learning initiatives which include writing, creatively and logically organizing new information to make it engaging for our audience, and supporting a major software rollout.

Essential Functions

• Writes copy for elearning modules, job aids and communication to the field
• Works on the design of materials with our graphic design team
• Updates content on our learning management system
• Tests software for rollout
• Additional job responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Students must have HS Diploma or GED and must be enrolled as at least rising Junior in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program, or enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program.
• Must be available to work a 40 hour workweek, Monday through Friday.
• Preferred degree field – English, HR Development, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, or Information Design preferred.
• Strong organization, time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking, interpersonal, etc. skills.
• Works well under deadlines, self-starter, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused, etc.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office
