Description

As the Manager of Merchandising Strategy, you are responsible to direct the development and ongoing documentation and refinement of the companys merchandising strategy. You will build presentations to socialize strategic initiatives with internal business partners and externally with publishers and vendors. You will be responsible for providing reporting and analytics for ongoing merchandising initiatives and recommending solutions to drive profitability.

Essential Functions

• Develop initiative frameworks and direct ongoing report-out presentations from initiative leaders.
• Attend meetings to gauge effectiveness and monitor progress to goals.
• Assess and initiate analytics and dashboard reporting in support of key initiative projects.
• Prepare and compile Merchandising presentations and overviews as required for Company meetings, Board presentations and peer partnership dialogues.
• Participate in all monthly area forecast meetings and open-to-buy meetings and align with Merchandise Planning on report-out financial overview including sales, margin, markdowns, inventory and expenses to Merchandising and Finance leadership.
• Generate recommendations across Merchandising department to allocate inventory investments, markdown deployment, and promotional support.
• Own the overall Merchandising calendar and integration to the Company calendar, Finance calendar, Marketing calendar and the Store Operations calendar and work proactively for alignment and resolution of calendar friction.
• Run ad-hoc analysis to support leadership decision making and prioritize support requests for reporting tool development and process changes.
• Identify and initiate process development improvements to increase effectiveness of cross-functional partnerships and eliminate work redundancy and decision making ambiguity.

Qualifications

• Proven track record to drive results; drive company direction and strategy, influence and motivate.
• Strong knowledge in statistical analysis, segmentation, descriptive and predictive modeling, and market research.
• Experience in project management (tools or methodology) and large-scale transformation.
• Has a strong understanding of Financial concepts and experience with analytical tools, SQL, R, SAS, Python, Alteryx, Tableau (Cliq, Domo, etc.).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or related field. MBA preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a multi-unit specialty/mass-retailer environment in a business consultant role.
