The Credit Card Representative is responsible for ensuring accuracy of customer billings, resolving discrepancies, and responding to inquiries with a strong customer service perspective. In addition, audits and maintains a set of stores monthly, and supports the month-end close.

An employee in this position can expect a starting rate between $20 - $22/hour, depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.

This is a hybrid role requiring 2 - 3 days/week in our Westbury, NY office.

What You Do

• Respond to the daily request of credit card dispute retrievals and chargebacks for both B&N stores and dot com.
• Resolve credit card issues with store managers/customers on a timely basis. Assist our customer service group in researching and resolving credit card disputes.
• Utilize and maintain key relationship with our credit card processor, American Express and Discover Card reps.
• Investigate unusual/fraudulent credit card transactions.
• Report to/assist Loss Prevention on any unusual/fraudulent chargebacks or credit card activity.
• Audit and maintain a set of stores each month. Responsible for month-end close for those stores.
• Support stores in resolving any reporting issues and other systems related issues. Also correct any errors in stores’ transactions.
• Re-class and provide detailed explanations for expenditures processed at the store level. Also research any variance on the over/short report.
• Review bank deposits and partner with store for any missing deposits.
• Assist in preparing monthly reconciliations of single and concentration depository bank accounts using manual and electronic banking systems when needed.
• Assist supervisor and other staff members in preparation of month-end close and provide support for special projects as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience

• Associate’s Degree plus 1- 2 years’ experience preferred
• Ability to multi-task and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills
• Strong experience with Excel and Word
