Description

As the Director of Business Development Operations, you will work closely with the VP of Business Development, Marketing, Merchandising, IT, Digital, Learning and Development, DC, Customer Service, home office operations team and multiple other leaders. The role will focus on flawless execution of initiatives including but not limited to RFPs/RFQs, merchandise, e-commerce and CRM App/tools as well as process improvement supporting outside and inside sales.

Essential Functions

Position Responsibilities:
• Create and implement comprehensive strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
• Improve RFP and RFQ processes and tracking including State Contracts, bids and vendor forms.
• Develop and implement processes to improve results and strengthen communication for current and future programs, tests and training.
• Drive strategy related to new program implementation, follow up, and results analysis.
• Identify and implement technology solutions for CRM tool and e-commerce sight to maximize efficiency and improve productivity and sales.
• Resolve merchandise/vendor inventory issues and terms throughout the supply chain and in stores.
• Improve store ordering and receiving process and seek out solutions to automate processes while minimizing man power hours including Customer Service and DC processes.
• Ensure effective marketing strategy to improve Educator, Bookfair, Institutional and Corporate awareness and penetration.
• Partner with the Business Development field team to understand challenges and implement solutions to execute the sales process consistently.
• Influence the Store Operations and Merchant teams to more closely align Business Development with company-wide processes and initiatives.
• Develop training materials to support effective field knowledge and implementation.
• Identify and participate in National Conferences pertaining to Business Development product and services.
• Identify and implement processes and procedures that allow Barnes & Noble to be eligible to sell products and services to the US Government and its agencies.
• Maintain support reference materials including but not limited to the reference center.
• Ensure proper processing and logistical procurement of sales, identifying gaps and resolving any issues to the satisfaction of all affected parties.
• Partner in the selection and interviewing of all RBDMs.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:
• Possess a solid background in both merchandising and store operations
• Proven ability to identify and quantify sales opportunities and market trends as well as translate financial data to make effective recommendations and decisions
• Significant logistics experience
• Strong communication, presentation skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 10+ years experience in multi-unit leadership and support
• Prior retail experience required
