Description

The Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for establishing and executing the vision of Barnes & Noble's digital presence, guiding the development of all digital marketing programs. This role collaborates with the senior management team to develop and execute marketing strategies, tactics and plans for the business and ensures they are consistent with the overarching corporate strategy.

Essential Functions

• Manages website, promotions, and all digital & web marketing.
• Identifies and manages relationships with digital agencies and related marketing services including SEM (Paid Search), PLA (Product Listing Ads), affiliates, and paid social.
• Drives acquisition and retention strategy of customers and ecommerce performance across devices, accessories and digital content.
• Oversees personalization efforts such as management of our data management platform (DMP) to ensure effective audience targeting and efficient use of ad spend
• Oversees data on-boarding efforts in order to reach in-store customers online
• Manages attribution efforts in order to understand the impact of all touch-points with the BN brand
• Facilitates marketing execution and brand excellence on the websites and increases loyalty and repeat purchases.
• Implements processes and procedures to ensure best practices and quality of deliverables.
• Establishes and ensures success metrics including ROI for all digital programs.
• Develops plans, analyses, presentations, and recommendations for new programs.
• Oversees digital brand and media budgets.
• Stays abreast of digital trends and technologies and provides Management with insight and recommendations.
• Develops short and long-range plans for the marketing of key new products that leverage the core strengths of the brand while positioning it for future growth.

Qualifications

• BA required, preferably in Marketing; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of proven consumer-facing marketing experience, with a demonstrated record of positive business results. Experience with consumer electronics preferred.
• 5-8 years’ ecommerce marketing experience with SEM, PLA, affiliates and/or paid social.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, responding and adapting to a world of strong competitors with rapidly changing technologies.
• Effective leader that drives the marketing team towards revenue goals as well as evolving BN Digital Marketing with the digital landscape
• Advanced knowledge of the web and ecommerce.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing especially SEM, PLA, affiliates, and/or paid social and some knowledge of other digital marketing tactics such as SEO, A/B testing, and personalization.
• Experience with web analytics, data reporting tools, DMP and attribution tools
• Energetic, innovative, self-starter, problem solver, and results oriented.
• Ability to work within a team, build relationships, and work collaboratively throughout the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of and relationships with digital marketing vendors.
• Comfortable with and enjoys using technology.
