The Director, Product Management will own the product roadmap for NOOK. You will be responsible for developing and launching new features for NOOK while working with cross-functional teams (business, marketing, creative, engineering) and external partners to communicate requirements and execute development and launch to market.

Essential Functions

• Analyzes consumer feedback, activity, and sales data and recommends new features, feature enhancements – data driven with strong empathy for the consumer experience.
• Partners with the business owners to understand the needs and build those needs into the product.
• Plans and execute the launch of new features / new versions of site/mobile apps with the cross-functional team (marketing, design, engineering, product and business teams).
• Creates features and stories, and works with Engineering and Program to work into the agile work stream.
• Becomes the product expert - knows how it’s installed, how it runs, etc.
• Works closely with the sales and customer support organizations to ensure customer happiness.
• Performs competitive analysis on other offerings in the marketplace.
• Creates and runs user feedback sessions and usability testing.
• Defines analytics requirements, and determines tagging needs.
• Conducts competitive analysis– (features, experience and technology).
• Reviews customer feedback and sales post-launch, and responds quickly to diagnose and correct any problems, and continuously iterates on feature and functional enhancements.
• Develops performance metrics and report dashboards to the management team.


• Minimum of 10 years of experience of business analysis, product marketing/management or engineering
• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Computer Science, Design)
• Prior experience with mobile or web applications
• Previous hardware or mobile device experience is a plus
• Self-starting personality with the ability to think strategically, problem solve and develop creative solutions; Works well and stay focused under little supervision
• Passionate about changing the way people discover and enjoy new reading content
• Ability to think about the consumer experience across all of Barnes & Noble channels: retail, web, mobile.
• Must be detail-oriented along with strong analytical and reporting skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, coordination and project management skills
