Provides counsel and guidance to Distribution Center Booksellers, Supervisors and Managers regarding human resources policies and procedures, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, job descriptions, and performance development. Ensures prompt attention is given to all questions and concerns. Ensure awareness of and adherence to all HR policies and procedures within the Distribution Center.

Essential Functions

•Provides counsel and establishes relationships with members of management regarding human resources policies and procedures.
•Assists with the establishment and maintenance of all Distribution Center job descriptions and employee profile data.
•Facilitates and administers best practices for recruitment, selection, placement and onboarding of employees through research, referrals, screening and interviewing of candidates for job openings. Ensures that staffing requirements are satisfied in the most timely and cost-effective manner. Participates in wage and salary surveys as needed.
•Administers External (Talent Gateway)/Internal posting procedures for the Distribution Center. Facilitates the application process for DC employees interested in bidding on open positions in the New York Office as well as other recruiting sources identified.
•Partners with Benefits Administration, HR Service Center and Reno Distribution Center to ensure consistency with all HR practices.
•Serves as a resource for temporary employees, consultants, as well as administers and oversees Summer Internship Program.
•Prepares and updates employee profile information using PeopleSoft and prepares/applies data analytics regularly.
•Participates in employee relations investigations.
•Works with supervisors, managers and Director, Human Resources in determining and proposing appropriate actions regarding employee performance issues.
•Assists management in the communication of corrective action procedures and provides instruction on the use of Improvement Plans and the overall process.
•Facilitates actions to resolve employee issues and escalates them to appropriate member of management.
•Assists in providing counsel to management regarding human resources policies and procedures, performance appraisals, job descriptions, salary administration and performance development.
•Assists the Director, Human Resources with researching legal issues internally and externally.
•Identifies and coordinates training needs with managers. Takes part in the design, implementation and facilitation of internal training as needed.
•Participates with the preparation and execution of various onsite/offsite employee relations activities.


•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in HR or a related field.
•Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel.
•Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
•Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
•Strong level of influence and negotiation skills.
•Ability to work alone on a broad variety of projects.
•Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
•Bilingual skills in English-Spanish/English-Hindi a plus.
