Description

We are looking for a dynamic marketer to support the childrens book and young adult book business at Barnes & Noble. As the Merchandising Marketing Manager for this category, you are responsible for developing marketing strategies and plans, and working with cross-functional team members to execute on plans and support the business.

Essential Functions

• Lead the development of marketing strategy for our children’s book and Young Adult book business, in collaboration with merchandising leadership and marketing team members. Create and execute annual and weekly marketing plans to support the growth of the category and Barnes & Noble as a whole.
• Manage category-wide marketing campaigns and initiatives, as well as projects for specific franchises, licenses and titles. Manage projects from start to finish, including creating briefs, leading kick-offs, partnering with cross-functional partners throughout, and recapping results and recommendations for the future.
• Partner with consumer insights team to analyze results of surveys and studies, and apply to marketing strategy and planning
• Develop marketing briefs including establishing metrics and KPIs, and partner with cross-functional team members and publishers to execute
• Analyze sales and marketing campaign results and make recommendations to optimize category performance and improve KPI’s and ROI
• Partner with merchant team to prioritize category initiatives and work closely with cross-functional marketing teams to lead content development and ensure category priorities are appropriately represented in marketing owned channels, including email, social, dot com, PR, editorial, author promotions and all print marketing materials
• Partner with merchants and national events manager to create, innovate, and improve in-store kids and YA events
• Provide creative and product review on all owned channel marketing support for the category

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of integrated marketing campaign development
• Strong understanding of marketing and branding principles
• Understanding and development of business marketing metrics and KPIs
• Data-driven with strong analytical skills
• Excellent leadership skills; creativity and innovation is a plus
• Excellent verbal/written/communication skills
• Able to develop and deliver project budgets
• Forward-thinking with experience partnering and influencing across business areas
• Demonstrated success delivering results, overcoming obstacles, and driving change
• Agile, solutions-oriented and self-starter
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years of marketing experience (consumer products preferred)
